The Lord is Good

You poured Your love on me
You lifted me from the mud
While I was walking in darkness you illuminated
My life, my everything

The infinite riches of your grace
You displayed to me
Without holding anything back from me you gave
Your life, Your everything

The Lord is good, worthy of all praise
I cannot forget the good things He has done
My whole life long I will declare that
The Lord is good!

Your thoughts about me, Lord
How precious, how many
What shall I give in return for this love
My life, my everything!

The Lord is compassionate and gracious
He does not get angry quickly, His love is vast

Old Monkey Fear

[Verse 01:]
You have a child on your shoulders, who whistles a song
And for a moment you see only danger in your heal world
The images of your fear, a car drives hits you
Your miseries on the bench
And the fear of the crazy man
A shadow as tall as a skyscraper conceals your horizon

[Refrain:]
Then your old monkey fear and dances and dances and dances with you
So long as long as you lose the ground under your feet
Then your old monkey fear and dances and dances you away from here
In his dark jungle, where you lose all your love at once
Your old monkey fear

[Verse 02:]
Damn, I am getting old, my sins are soon coming back
I have respect for the doctor and the incurable disease
This fear is like falling, it pulls into the bones
The feathers become narrow and my heart does not stop
And then I can not sleep, stay bright until the morning
comes
A shadow as tall as a high-rise concealed my horizon

[Refrain:]
Then comes your old monkey fear and dances and dances and dances with you
So long as long as you lose the ground under your feet
Then comes your old monkey fear and dances and dances you away from here
In his dark jungle, where you lose all your love
at once
Your old monkey fear
Then comes your old monkey fear and dances and dances and dances with you
So long as long as you lose the ground under your feet
Then your old monkey gets scared and dances and dances you away from here
In his dark jungle, where you lose all your love
at once
Your old monkey fear

[Outro:]
And then it's over, the monkey gone
I go back here
The days sunny, without fear and the hairy fear animal

Ride

We write our story using bikes,
chasing after memory on very narrow streets,
uphill without a water bottle,
downhill with wind on our face.
Because it doesn’t matter where the bike takes you to:
it’s all a balance of periods and ratios,2
it’s all a matter of chains and crowns,3
of grease lubricating people’s lives.
Like in life,
there is a spinning wheel, a pushing wheel,4
and, with the current situation,5
if a wheel is punctured, you’re guaranteed to fall down;
a patch will fix it, a wound can be healed.
Don’t be afraid, or you’ll lose your focus,
you have to get the weighs and the centers of mass to coincide.6
The effort of a couple for a single moment:7
two forces come into play, one single movement.8

Ride – Pursue your story wherever it goes.
Ride – Stack up mile upon mile.
Ride – It’s you who wanted the bike.9
Ride – Faster.
Ride – Faster.

If it’s free, the pinion is chosen by the crown,
which, through a chain, affects the motion of the system:10
mechanical monarchy,
that swore eternal loyalty to the laws of physics,
statics, termodynamics,
almost democratic if, when it stops, you can go freewheeling,
or tyrannical, with a fixation on the sprint,
without brakes protecting you from the impact.
It’s the task of the pinion to make the revolution,11
to bring the movement to every direction,12
in a constant feat of acrobatics, it irradiates the energy
from the center towards the periphery.13
It’s just a matter of ratio between gears,
and everything runs smooth until you get discouraged,
for here you - out of breath - are the only engine,
the only one pushing uphill the baggage of your life.14

Ride – Pursue your story wherever it goes.
Ride – Stack up mile upon mile.
Ride – It’s you who wanted the bike.
Ride – Faster.
Ride – Faster.

You know well that history is cyclic,
just as patience is biblical15
and the worst rise is a descent that’s steep,
abrupt, riddled with hairpin turns, winding,
with your weight shifted forward, down the incline.
Like a controlled avalanche, you plunge down in a nosedive,
the landscape whooshes by, zooming in.
You look where you’re going, you go where you like,
you keep your eyes open and you know how you are, you do as you can.
The finish line comes when you’re least expecting it:
it’s a parking lot with bikes leaning on their kickstand,
bikes abandoned there, without a sparring partner,
ready to go again, if someone is going.
Ready to go far away, changing the relationships, taking it easy.16
Imagine that, once, a bike made a man cry:
they became friends, she asked for his forgiveness.17

Ride – Pursue your story wherever it goes.
Ride – Stack up mile upon mile.
Ride – It’s you who wanted the bike.
Ride – Faster.
Ride – Faster.

  • 1. This a metaphor about life, made by talking about bycicles.
  • 2. rapporto = (gear) ratio; relationship.
  • 3. corona = crown (headgear); toothed rim.
  • 4. La vita è una ruota che gira {life is a spinning wheel} = the wheel of fortune turns; life is a continuous change, with highs and lows.
  • 5. l’aria che tira {the pulling air; the blowing wind} = the current situation; the way things are (or are now).
  • 6. That is, it’s all a matter of choosing the right compromise.
  • 7. coppia = couple.
coppia = (physics) the pair of opposing forces generating a torque.
    momento = moment.
momento = (physics) torque (a force that causes a rotation).
  • 8. in gioco = into play.
gioco = mechanical play (an inaccuracy in mechanical size, which causes two joined parts to be looser than intended; or, which avoids excessive friction between two parts).
  • 9. pedalare = to pedal.
(saying) Hai voluto la bicicletta? Ora pedala! {You wanted a bike? Now you must ride!} = when you wish something and finally get it, you will also have to cope with whatever else comes with it, however unpleasant.

    movement = motion; political/artistic movement.

  • 15. In Italian, patience is said to be biblical because of the biblical figure of , who endured unimaginable torments without ever blaming God for his misfortune.
  • 16. rapporto = relationship.
    rapporto = gear ratio.
andarci piano {to go slow with it} = to take it easy.
  • 17. bicicletta {bicycle} is feminine in Italian.
Here, the song uses the pronoun lei {she} which is usually not used for objects, as if to personify the bike.
You can use my translations however you like.

Light Years

Versions: #3
Come trust in me
We don't have to leave out
To do later
What you want right now

It's the instinct
Let it rock you
Heaven is for people who believes
And not for the ones who doubts
I'm a vulcano
In eruption
Come to your senses

Curtains up
Camera, action!

[Chorus]
To wait
It is a sea
That I still don't know how
To sail
Don't stay
Light years
I'm already decided
And I want to know if you are

Come trust in me
There is no margin of error
Let that in my skin
Glow your sweat

What are you waiting for?
It's almost early in the morning
My zipper
It is not electrified

Don't have any regards
Come to senses
Curtains up
Camera, action

[Chorus Repeat]

I will go up to your back
Like the climbing plant to the wall
When the moon kisses the sand
No one looks at us this night is ours
There will be no witnesses, there will be no evidence
It is just you and your conscience

What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?

Don't have any regards
Come to senses
Curtains up
Camera, action

[Chorus Repeat]

Song of the Kamikaze Unit

We load fuel for a one-way trip - tentsurushan1
while crying.
Our destination is Ryukyu2, our journey to the other side,3
oh-oh, our journey to the other side.

As we leave the ground - tentsurushan
it is our farewell to this world.
We think about our mothers' faces,
oh-oh, our mothers' faces.

Oh rain, fall, fall - tentsurushan
with all your might, oh rain.
This bitterness from us maintenance workers,
oh-oh, this bitterness.
